CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Remittances from Egyptians working abroad totaled approximately $29.7 billion in the first seven months of 2026. According to the Central Bank of Egypt, inflow levels increased by 28.1% compared to about $23.2 billion during January through July 2025. These figures reflect money sent back home by Egyptians employed overseas and constitute the most recent official data for the 2026 calendar year. The total is roughly $6.5 billion higher than the amount recorded in the same period of 2025.

In July alone, remittances reached around $4.5 billion, marking a 20% rise from approximately $3.8 billion in July 2025. This monthly figure follows earlier increases observed earlier in the year. January remittances were about $3.5 billion, up 21% from $2.9 billion in the same month of the previous year. February inflows totaled roughly $3.8 billion, a 25.7% increase from $3.0 billion in February 2025. The combined remittance figure for January and February is approximately $7.3 billion for the 2026 calendar year thus far.
On a fiscal-year basis, remittances reached around $47.3 billion in 2025/2026, representing a 29.6% increase from the $36.5 billion recorded in fiscal 2024/2025. In June 2026, inflows stood at about $4.2 billion compared to $3.6 billion in June 2025, which is a 15.6% growth. The total for the fiscal year increased by approximately $10.8 billion. Fiscal-year data encompasses July 2025 through June 2026, while the new $29.7 billion figure reflects remittances from January to July 2026.
Remittance growth maintains double-digit momentum
The Central Bank of Egypt also reported a record $41.5 billion in remittances for the calendar year 2025, which was 40.5% higher than the roughly $29.6 billion sent home in 2024. This increase accounts for about $11.9 billion in dollar terms. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, remittances amounted to approximately $22.1 billion. The same period a year earlier saw $17.1 billion, indicating a 29.6% rise over six months.
Remittances in December 2025 hit about $4.0 billion, a 24% increase from $3.2 billion in December 2024, setting a monthly record at the time. By January 2026, cumulative fiscal inflows reached roughly $25.6 billion, up 28.4% from $20.0 billion. The total climbed to approximately $29.4 billion by February, compared with $23.0 billion a year earlier, representing a 28% growth over eight months of the fiscal period.
Official figures show consistent increases across periods
The upward trend persisted into the spring months. Remittances from July to March of fiscal 2025/2026 reached around $34.9 billion, a 32% rise from $26.4 billion. By April, the total for ten months had increased to about $39.2 billion, which is 33.2% higher than the $29.4 billion reported a year earlier. April alone saw about $4.3 billion, a 44% increase over April 2025’s $3.0 billion, with a monthly increase of roughly $1.3 billion in absolute terms.
By May, the fiscal-year remittance total had risen to about $43.1 billion, a 31.2% increase from $32.8 billion in the same period the previous year. In May, inflows were approximately $3.9 billion, representing a 13.5% increase from about $3.4 billion the year before. The total over 11 months exceeded the previous year’s figure by roughly $10.3 billion. The fiscal year concluded at $47.3 billion, with the calendar-year total reaching $29.7 billion after July. Throughout the latest official reports, both cumulative and monthly figures stayed above their comparable figures from the prior year.
